Meet Kirbie, creator of the food blog Kirbie’s Cravings, based in San Diego.
Kirbie’s Cravings shares recipes (ranging from healthy meals to easy desserts) and dining out experiences both locally and out of town. The blog documents the cravings of Kirbie, with the help and support of her husband, “Mr. K.”
Kirbie takes photos, creates recipes, and writes a majority of the blog posts. Mr. K produces all of the video content. He is also her main taste tester, hand model, and light holder.
Kirbie and her husband love to dine, cook, bake, and take “food road trips.” Through this blog, they are able to share their eating adventures with the world.
It’s safe to say Kirbie grew up in a foodie environment. She was always surrounded by food and people who have a passion for food. Her grandparents would always bring her to amazing restaurants. Her mom was a fantastic cook. Kirbie grew to love food so much that it became a passion. She got the nickname “Kirbie” from her friends, who joked that she was like Kirbie, the round and pink Nintendo character, because she was constantly eating and always hungry.
Kirbie first started this blog because she needed a creative outlet to relieve the stress from her day job. She always loved writing and food, so combining the two in this blog was the perfect way to express herself. Initially, she had no photography experience, but over time, she learned a few tips and tricks. Mr. K. has helped a lot with photography, especially when they are dining out, traveling, or at an event. He often carries a second camera to capture all the moments.
Kirbie never expected her hobby to grow into something that would require full time attention, but because of the blog, she has developed so many skills and explored so many different cuisines that she otherwise would not have. Through a lot of reading, research, and practice, Kirbie’s Cravings has become a success.
Now, Kirbie regularly develops her own recipes. She has published two cookbooks: 5-Minute Mug Cakes, which includes nearly 100 individual serving cakes that can be cooked in the microwave and ready in 5 minutes, and Dump Cakes from Scratch, which features nearly 100 recipes where you simply “dump” in the ingredients, spread in the pan, and bake.
On Kirbie’s Cravings, you’ll find a blend of recipes and dining reviews, along with some other food-related discussions. I promise, you’re really going to want to check it out.
