Meet Joy, owner of the food blog “Joy the Baker.” Joy is a self-taught baker, turned professional baker, turned food photographer and cookbook author.
Joy grew up in the kitchen, working alongside her parents. Between her father, who makes a mean Sweet Potato Pie, and her mother, who makes an interesting purple hot dog casserole, Joy learned how to get creative with food. Joy soon learned that baking was in her blood.
In 2014, Joy moved from California to the deep French Quarter of New Orleans, Louisiana. She was inspired by the people, culture, and beignets there. That’s where she currently does a majority of her living, working, eating, and cocktailing.
“Joy the Baker” was created in January 2018, as a result of Joy’s downright obsession with brownies and cake. The blog features a little bit of everything, from sweet and savory seasonal recipes to cocktail recipes. Recipes include root beer baked beans, cheeseburger fried rice, chocolate raspberry cake, fried blueberry hand pies, and toasted s’mores squares. In addition to food, Joy sometimes shares her current favorite books or lipsticks.
Subscribe to Joy’s newsletter and follow her on Instagram, on Pinterest, on Twitter, and Facebook to stay up to date. You don’t want to miss out on her recipes!
